PURPOSE What makes you do what you do? What drives and compels you to always thrive? In the morning when you awake, what is the first thing that you realize you must do? If you knew you were going to take your last breath and you could have one request to meet, what would it be? My friend, every one of your answers would surmise to a “Purpose,” the reason for which something exists or happens. You do what you do because you have goals and aims of which you desire and anticipate a favorable end or result. You chose and pursued a higher education with a determination to land a fulfilling career in hopes of attaining a fruitful life. You choose to go to work everyday because you expect, and purpose to finance your lifestyle, and of course, pay your living utilities. Purpose is behind everything we do: from choosing how we will spend our day (whether by staying in bed or by being out and about); whether to marry or to remain single. Not to say in the least, there is even purpose behind our decision to serve the Lord or not! Friend, how we choose to live our lives “has purpose,” it “is a purpose,” and it “has an end result!” Now whether the end result is pleasing or not is totally dependent upon our initial decision: to live out our lives “on purpose” (I.e. consciously, intentionally, and deliberately) with “a purpose!” This word is to emphasize the reason god created you, his original intentions, and his “purpose” for “Purpose!” When God created man, He “purposed” and desired that man be made in His image. God purposed to create something and someone who would give him glory and praise Him for simply the work of His Mighty hands…that would be man! For we know, that Satan and a third of the angels rebelled against God. We also know that God is a very jealous God! So was God bored when He made man?…. Certainly not! He purposed greatness… perhaps something greater than He ever created, besides His very own Son. He purposed that man have dominion on the earth and keep it! God purposed man to dominate everything on the earth….having complete authority over fish, the birds, the cattle, and every thing that crept upon the earth. God gave man this dominion and Genesis 2:15 tells us he wanted us to keep it! Keep what? (ans.) God wanted man to keep his authority and dominion here on the earth. The earthly domain was not to be Satan’s. Unfortunately, our first earthly father, Adam, relinquished that right of dominion to the enemy through his act of disobedience, to God’s command (to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:17). Yes, Satan beguiled the woman. But Adam (the man) had been given all authority before the woman was even created. It was also at that time which Adam had been given the command to not eat of the tree. If we could just digress a bit, Adam willfully sinned against God, causing the fall of man and the ultimate demise of man, which is the curse of death. For it is appointed unto man once to die (Heb. 9: 27) Although Adam willfully relinquished the right of dominion to Satan, we still believe that Satan illegally gained access into our original state of affairs. Jesus tells us that He is the Door, and if anyone enters in by any other way besides the Door, he is the same as a thief and a robber (Jn.10:1,7,8). Unfortunately, this is what Satan had done! For Satan came subtlety and befriended Eve. It is to be assumed that she did not know God as well as Adam. Perhaps, Eve did not know God’s voice as well. She apparently did not walk and talk with God as much as Adam. This, more or less, made her more susceptible to hearing the voice of the “stranger”… (a voice that God’s sheep will not follow…. (Jn.10:4,5,27). So ask yourself…..“Did Eve know she had been entertaining the voice of a stranger?” For again, the word does plainly state…. “And a stranger will they not follow , but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.” (Jn.10:5) Yes, Satan sought the “wandering lamb”. Satan did not seek the “head” of Eve.…For Christ is the Head of man and man is the head of woman (1 Cor.11:3; Eph 5:23). We are not trying to rationalize Eve’s actions. However, we are attempting to shed light on the fact that Satan too, has a purpose in mind when he seduces and uses his crafty, but very old tactics. Yes, Satan has a purpose in mind….and unfortunately, he seeks to carry it out on purpose! We are to be no different. Even after the fall, God had yet another purpose in mind. That purpose was the precious gift of His only begotten Son. God purposed to send His Son to redeem the fallen man. God at one time purposed to destroy man from the face of the earth. The bible declares: And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them (Gen. 6:7). But we know that His Son stepped in and stepped up for our cause….(hallelujah! Praise God for Jesus!) So even in this event, Christ purposed something. Christ purposed to reconcile God’s creation back to Him, through blood-shed and His life, through His death! Reflection Point: God “purposed” His “purpose” on purpose! Christ “purposed” His coming, life, and death on purpose! As dear children of the light, we are called to holiness, not uncleanness (1 Thes.4:7). The word of God tells us that we should put a difference between holy and unholy (Lev. 10:10). Given that you put a difference between holy and unholy, ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine (Lev.20:26). Know this friend, God has set apart the Godly for Himself (Ps. 4:3). So your purpose is: to serve the Lord with gladness. Honor Him by glorifying the Father in your body and in your spirit, for they both belong to God (1 Cor.6:20) Your purpose is to do the will of the Father…..Point others to the way of the cross….being not ashamed of the Gospel….Letting your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man (Col.4:6)…sanctifying the Lord God in your hearts: and being ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1Pet.3:15). Your purpose is to let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven (Mt5:16). Amongst a host of other things that characterizes your purpose is your purpose to call and speak things into existence! Satan, our adversary, knows that the child of God possesses a very powerful arsenal….That is, prayer! If the child of God realizes the power of prayer, the enemy at large can’t and won’t stand a chance. Understand this, you have angels that are appointed over you that behold the face of our Heavenly Father (Mt. 18:10; Ps. 91:11). They are charged to you. They await to fulfill the will of the Father, by answering the prayers of the saints.. Why? For the saints are supposed to be praying that the will of the Father be done on earth as it is in heaven….and this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him (1Jn.5: 14-15). The Bible tells us that the Angels excel in strength to do His commandments, by hearkening unto His voice (Ps. 103:20). Glory Hallelujah! The Lord truly loads us up with benefits (Ps. 68:19; 103:2; 116:12)…More benefits than the average child of God really knows! Your God-given authority and purpose is to bind up and dethrone powers, principalities, and the rulers of darkness. Your purpose is to wreak havoc on the kingdom of darkness. This is one of the main reasons, or shall I say your purpose for being here in the earth. Your purpose is to obey God’s voice that you may be a peculiar treasure unto Him above all people (Ex. 19:5,6). Isn’t that just grand? Your purpose, last but certainly not the least, is to show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). Face it my friend! We are constantly, and will forever be in the battle ring of decision, defending the champion title of Free Will…. as long as we are here on earth. So, choose whom and what you will serve this day!…. And live like the royal priesthood and the peculiar people you were purposed to be…… Reflection Point: We must live life, serving God with a “purpose” on “purpose!” Serve God like your life depends on it…..Because it does! Serve God with great intentions! Serve God with a Determination! Serve God to receive a favorable end! ………And may the Grace of our Lord and Savior rest, rule, and abide, henceforth, now, and forever more! Amen. |
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion….. over all the earth…So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He them. (Gen 1:26-27) ….And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed….And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Gen 2:8,15) |
