God Bless you friend, for clicking on this lesson!
This teaching is to stir you up a bit! We want you to really sit down and consider why you
do, what you do, when you do it! What or Who Is It that keeps you going? Is it your
children, your spouse, bills, or your need for companionship? What or Who do you lend
yourself servant to (God or the devil)? What or Who dictates your life? Orders you around?
….Controls you?…Who or What Is It that keeps you from walking or not walking according
to the precepts of God? Who or What Is It that gets most of your time, energy, and your
productivity? Who or What Is It that is the center of your aspirations?….Friend, What or
Who Is It that motivates you to do what you do and don’t do? Could it be you?….Could it be
your friends and/or loved ones? Could it be Satan?…Demonic spirits?…Or is it God? Let’s
face it! Everything we do, there is a motive behind it. Even the things we choose not to do
have motives behind them. Those motives points to and derive from the main source….
YOUR CEO! There are many who contends for this title over your life. But Who will you
allow to keep you? What will you allow to keep you?
Since the beginning of time, there has been someone or something that maintains and tends to
the sustenance of another. There is not anything mysterious about this finding. For even
when we think of the span of time and the changing seasons, we can very well infer and
resolve the fact that there is a power greater than time itself. This power is the Author and
Finisher, the Alpha and Omega of all things!…This power is none other than, our Father,
which art in Heaven! Our Father has maintained the planet on which we live. Our Father has
given us this same ability to maintain, sustain, and protect.
In the beginning, God planted every plant of the field and every herb of the field and He had
not yet, sent rain. Nor had there been a man to till the ground. (Gen 2:5) Subsequently, God
formed Adam. Your Bible records: And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the
garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (Gen 2:15) God gave Adam dominion over the
land and every living thing that moved upon it. God, moreover, had brought every animal of
the earth and every fowl of the air to Adam, to see what he would call them. The Bible,
nevertheless, records that whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that, was the name
thereof. (Gen 2:19) Now, when the Bible uses the words, “dress” and “keep” it is
indicative that God simply gave Adam total charge over everything that dwelt among the
earth, as well as what the earth had yielded! Adam, more or less didn’t have too much work
to do in the “tilling” of the ground. For God had done the hardest job. Again, the Bible tells
us that God was the one that did the “planting” and “formed” the animals from the dust.
Presumably all Adam had to do was to enjoy the beauty of God’s presence and the beauty of
God’s creation! He did not really have to work for food. For the trees yielded the fruits, and
the earth yielded every plant that would be Adam’s “meat.” All Adam had to do was pick
and choose what he wanted, and there he had it, in his grasp, and ultimately, it would end up
in his belly!
Unfortunately, Adam was not satisfied. At least, not after Eve came on the scene. For as a
result of Adam’s selfish act of disobedience, he and his companion were cast out of the God’
s beautiful Garden of Eden. The Bible records, “So he drove out the man; and he placed at
the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to
keep the way of the tree of life.” (Gen.3:24) Here’s what is interesting and what pulls us
directly to our focal point of the lesson. Adam had been given very specific commands
concerning the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil: And out of the ground
made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;
the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest
freely eat:…..But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for
in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Gen 2:9,16-17; 3:24) Now, in
short, what was once in Adam’s protection was now, in the Cherubims care! Adam basically
lost his rights to eat of this “tree of life.” But thanks be to God in Heaven for Jesus! Jesus
reconciled us back unto the Father. Jesus made the tree of life accessible. My friend, please
get this revelation! The “tree of life” Adam was able to eat of was very real and tangible.
However, the tree of life we are speaking of is more or less, spiritual. Note the following
Proverbs which all make reference to “wisdom” being the “tree of life.”
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. (11:30)
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (13:
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit. (15:
4) But look at God! Jesus declares in Revelation 22:14: Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through
the gates into the city. see also Revelation 2:7;22:2
So you see, this “tree of life” we now have access to, needs to be tended to. The
resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ gave us the ability to reclaim our right to that tree
of life. The Bible records that the Cherubim had a “flaming sword to keep the way of” the
tree of life. Quite frankly, we must allow God to do the same for us. We, alone, can’t keep
ourselves! We need the Word. We need God the Father, Christ the Son, and the seal of His
precious Holy Spirit to keep us!
You want to play an active participant in the keeping of your soul? Begin to use the “flaming
sword” of God, which is His Word!!! Begin to allow the Word to cleanse and sanctify
you… Allow His precious Word to become internalized and applied to your daily life… “If
a man love me, he will keep my words:…” John 14:23
…Meditate in and on it day and night! If we, thereby, are diligent in the keeping of our tree
of life, it will keep and sustain us and every one of our infirmities. We have to put to use our
ability to guard our goods, making full proof of our stewardship. Listen friend, God has
invested a great deal in you. He made and provided the ultimate sacrifice there on Calvary.
Shortly thereafter, the Holy Ghost (Spirit) descended to comfort, to teach, to guide, to lead,
and to protect another one of God’s investments…..YOU!!! Then, He has His Holy Spirit
which is His greater “vested” interest. It is quite evident that God holds the Holy Spirit very
precious and dear to Him. He tells us in His word that we can be forgiven for blaspheming
against Him and His Son. Yet, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven! “And
whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto
him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.” (Luke 12:10; Mark
Nevertheless, God always had a plan. He had a plan for everything He created…especially
you! God knows all about man, his frailties, and weaknesses. God knew that man would
need a keeper as a result of man’s fall. God looked out across the span of time and knew He
would eventually have to make a sacrifice to reconcile man back to Him. Some may ask,
“Why did He (God) wait forty-two generations?” Perhaps, God still wanted to allow for
man to use his awesome gift of “choice” to do what was right. But with man being so sinful,
wretched, and full of self, God knew He had to make the “ultimate” blood covenant and
sacrifice. For years, man would offer up the blood of animals to atone man’s sins…But you
know what they say, ‘If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself!’…And so
Keep in mind friend, God only and has always wanted what was best for His children. God
is glorified when man is “kept” and when man can “keep” what He gives them. God is a
great steward. He wants us to be no different. The Lord God wants us to be diligent keepers
of our homes, marriages, finances, place of worship, etc. Why? Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no
variableness, neither shadow of turning. (Jam 1:17) Jesus tells us that when a strong man
armed, keeps his palace, it is his goods which are in peace. Then He goes on to say.. But
when someone stronger than he comes along, and overcomes him, he(the stronger), takes
what the strong man has and divides it. (Lk.11:21-22; Mk. 3:23-27) Jesus tells us in another
place that in order to spoil the goods of a strong man’s house, you must first bind the strong
man….And it is then, that the strong man’s house is spoiled. (Mt. 12:28-30) Let’s digress a
bit, the strong Jesus is referring to here in Matthew refers to the enemy being the strong man
in the heart of man. But we’re attempting to draw a parallel in the usage of this scripture. It
is in the self-same manner in which we are to guard our hearts, minds, homes, etc. Get the
picture friend! God wants us and has placed us in authority. We have been equipped with an
“enabler.” (read and study the following: Baptism of the Holy Spirit and Purpose) Your
confession of Jesus Christ and your possession of the Holy Ghost is what qualifies you to
exercise all rights of authority over the enemy. You have dominion here in the earth! Take
your rightful place as the priest in your home….Begin to make your requests known unto
God! Let Him know you need His helping hand to stand! Stay in His presence as much as
possible by praying, fasting, consecrating, reading, studying, and meditating…whatever it
takes to build up a strong defense. Show the Lord you want Him to guard you….Tell Him
you want your mouth, your eyes, your ears, your hands, your feet, your mind, your heart, and
your soul guarded!…Tell God to show you how to guard these things.
Know this friend, Jesus already prayed for you. As Jesus warned Peter of Satan’s desires to
sift him as wheat, he comforted Peter by telling him, that he prayed that Peter’s faith would
not fail. (Lk.22:31-32)
Jesus said when He was in the world, he kept them (disciples) in God’s name….He told the
Father, “those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of
perdition;..” (Jn.17:12,17-20) Even at this very moment, the Spirit makes intercession for
you according to the will of God (Rom. 8:26-27) He desires that you be kept. God grieves
over one sheep being lost. How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them
be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and
seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he
rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. (Matthew
18:12 see also Lk.15:4,7)
So dearest friend, will you let God keep you on today? Will you allow God to make you
even more whole, whereas, you no longer give in to your “burning” flesh? If you been trying
to do it on your own, try allowing Him to do what He does best! Let Him keep you under His
shadow (Ps.91:1). Let God teach, lead, and guide your every move…For it is in Him that we
live….It is in Him that we move…It is in Him we have our very being! (Acts 17:28) So, if
you have an addiction….stop and think about it for moment…You will see it is as simple as
this…If you say you have it (an addiction), that means you’re in a position where you can
give it up! Yes, you didn’t say the addiction has you…..you simply said, “I have a nicotine
problem! I have a drinking problem!” Today, whatever you have claimed, accepted, or even
tolerated, down throughout the years, begin to disclaim it, renounce it, and denounce it in the
name of Jesus. Began to plead the blood of your words, your taste, your mind, body, spirit,
and soul. Do this and pray to the Father sincerely… And according to God’s word, in I John
5:14-15, you will have that which you petitioned Him for….for this is the will of God
concerning you!…and He will keep and perfect that which concerns you!
Who’s Keeping you from fellowshipping?
Who’s keeping you from being prayerful?
Who’s keeping you from being hospitalized?
Who’s keeping you as you travel from day to day?
Who or what keeps you sane when circumstances says you will go crazy?
|The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD,
endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might
perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
